How to Show Gratitude in Tough Times

Our newsfeed is constantly flooded with terrible news. A never-ending stream of stresses, such as pandemics, wars, inflation, and contentious political debates, may have a negative impact on your mind and emotions.

There’s no getting away from it, whether you turn to the TV, social media, or the Internet.

Let’s not overlook the challenges we encounter on a daily basis, including obstacles in our relationships and employment, concerns about our money, and worry about our health and safety. On mental (and bodily) health, each of them has a tremendous effect.

In light of this, how can we be grateful when it feels like everything around us is falling apart? How can we experience joy and plenty when there are so many reasons to feel the opposite?

Here are five actions you may take each day to express gratitude:

1. Take baby steps

We frequently fail to notice the details of daily life. It’s a gorgeous bright day; you may exercise and take care of your body; and people adore you. It’s simple to consider these facts to be givens. No matter what your situation is, if you appreciate them, you will feel grateful.

2. Keep track of your life’s development

We often perceive some of our growth to be inconsequential, making it simple to discount our own personal advancement. Think for a moment about where you have been and where you are right now. Consider the adjustments you have made to improve your life. Think back on these times and write them down so you have a running list to serve as a reminder.

3. Be of assistance to others

Nothing fosters thankfulness more than making the effort to alleviate someone else’s sorrow. As you concentrate on helping someone else, it diverts your attention away from your own issues. It permits you to recognise and express gratitude for your current stage of life.

4.Find a way to balance your wants with your needs

Make a list of everything you want and include a desire you once had but no longer have. Perhaps it’s a nice automobile, a lovely house, a wonderful companion, kids, or a fruitful profession. You once had aspirations of obtaining what you currently own. We experience shortage and scarcity when we are preoccupied with what we don’t have and want. We achieve a condition of plenty by paying attention to both what we now have and what we want in the future. You will be in a position to receive and feel grateful if your desires come from a place of plenty and appreciation.

5.Be mindful

There is always a chance for us to give in to the intense emotions that unfavourable news and situations bring. Finding thankfulness requires deliberate work. Make it a routine to list three things for which you are thankful at the end of each day. Review those items as soon as you get up to set the tone for your day and instil thankfulness in your heart.
