RIANNA + NINA PRESENTS PETALOUDA AW21 COLLECTION
RIANNA + NINA are excited to announce PETALOUDA: an A/W21 collection full of firsts for the luxury label after their amazing new capsule collection (check it out here if you’ve not seen it yet) — the introduction of knits, committed menswear collection, and a brand new collaboration with Portuguese artist Bela Silva and Brussel based gallery Spazio Nobile.
Drawing inspiration from the butterflies of the collection’s namesake, RIANNA + NINA looked to the love and whimsy of the 1970s to craft Petalouda. Vibrant prints of butterflies and florals are paired with other rich, colorful motifs, with each design made using luxurious silks sourced from Como, Italy alongside specially-made embroidered wool cashmere. As with all RIANNA + NINA pieces, every item from the collection has been handcrafted by the master artisans of the label’s Berlin atelier and can be tailored to a client’s exact desires.
This collection also welcomes knits to the RIANNA + NINA family. The extra time the brand has spent at home in the past year has made them long for coziness, and today, RIANNA + NINA is introducing the love for color and vibrance to a beautiful range of warm knit pieces. While these may have been inspired by the Winter months, their special hues and high-end craftsmanship truly feel at home in any season.
Pieces from Petalouda are joined by the stunning sculpture art of Bela Silva, represented by Spazio Nobile Gallery. Silva is an artist based between Lisbon, Portugal and Brussels, Belgium with previous shows at Chicago’s Ann Nathan Gallery, Lisbon’s Museu do Azulejo and others along with several major public art pieces, such as her tile panels for the Alvalade subway station in Lisbon. Inspired by RIANNA + NINA’s textile work, ancient murals, and classic Portugese Azulejos tiles, Bela crafted Cobalt Mood, Feeling, Happiness, Hello, Kiss Me, Mia Casa, and Tree of Life — seven remarkable pieces of sculpture jewelry available as part of the collection. Silva’s art also adorns the pages of the brand’s lookbook, merging both lively worlds together through beautiful illustrations.
