Indoor golf with The Golf Rooms: A tech-savvy way to practice golf

A unique indoor golf experience in Brentford that brings together skilled coaching with an enjoyable community for both beginners and pros.

We were invited down to The Golf Rooms to see what a more refined version of indoor golf is like. The feeling within the space hits you straight away, with soft lighting, clean bays, and the low hum of conversation, instead of the usual range clatter. Despite the relative calm in the room, individual bays are playing host to lively groups of friends playing virtual courses and professional coaching. It is clear that this space has been designed for those golfers who care about the details and want to experience the best golf technology, but in a more relaxed environment. Think less sports centre, more evening lounge with proper golf built in.

Getting started is effortless. A short intro to the tech, a quick game setup, and that’s it, you’re swinging before you’ve finished your drink. Each bay feels private but not boxed in. You still catch the atmosphere, a solid shot landing somewhere nearby, a laugh from the next group, enough to remind you this isn’t solitary training, it’s social golf with sharper edges.

The tech of the simulators is so impressive and not at all intimidating. Let’s just say it can provide more information about your swing than you ever thought could be possible and certainly more data than you could get at a typical Toptracer range. Within a few swings, you can tell exactly what you’re doing right and wrong. Not only does the system provide the usual ball flight data, such as carry distance, launch angle and spin, it also provides slow-motion video replays of the contact between club head and ball.

On the top-tech bay, the system is so clever that it can replicate the various lies you can experience out on a real course, and I don’t just mean fairway or rough. This simulator has a mechanical floor that can tilt to match the slopes seen on the virtual course, creating challenging shots with the ball significantly above or below your feet. The attention to detail and immediate statistical feedback is what keeps you wanting to hit another ball, determined to find that key that unlocks the next level to your game.

If you’re new to The Golf Rooms, there’s an easy way to try it for yourself. They offer a free 30-minute lesson for anyone — beginner or experienced — with all clubs provided. You’ll get 30 minutes of guided coaching and tech introduction, plus another 30 minutes of free play to test it all out. You can book directly through their contact page.

During our visit, The Golf Rooms were kind enough to allow us to work with one of their professional coaches. He was great! Very relaxed, observant, and clearly someone who knows how to read both a swing and a mood. As a beginner golfer, he pointed out exactly what I needed to improve on and offered amazing advice which now plays back in my mind each time I get on the tee box. He wasn’t overloading us with data, just pointing out simple adjustments that landed instantly. That blend of expert eyes and dialled-in tech is what separates this from every other “smart range” setup.

The real difference, though, is the culture. The Golf Rooms has stripped away the stiffness that usually follows golf indoors and makes it a classy place where you can hang out with your friends and swing without feeling cold or uncomfortable as a normal rage would feel. You’ve got beginners mixing with low-handicappers, everyone actually talking, cheering each other on. There’s no hierarchy here, just people chasing a better shot, together. It feels like the version of golf we’ve all been waiting for.

That same community-driven spirit extends beyond the bays. The Golf Rooms have launched a range of exciting projects  from content creation and club fittings to podcasts and YouTube features that bring golf culture to life. You can take a look at what’s happening on their socials here.

There’s also a brilliant opportunity for brands and partners. Bay sponsorships are now available, offering a creative way for businesses to connect with a passionate, engaged golf audience. More details can be found here.

And if you’re looking for somewhere to host your next event  from intimate gatherings to corporate or Christmas parties  The Golf Rooms can make it happen in style. You can explore upcoming events or enquire about private hire here.

As The Golf Rooms put it “It’s a place to feel safe, confident, and get a sense of your skill even when you thought you already understood your game.” And it delivers. The room feels stylish without being uptight, high-tech without posturing. You end up staying longer than you planned, because it’s just…easy to be there. You hit, you laugh, you get better; in that order.

If you’re curious, start small. Book an hour, bring a mate, and keep it light. Don’t overthink the numbers. Focus on rhythm, or maybe just remembering what a pure strike feels like. When you’re ready to take it further, the coaching will be waiting for you.
